Slim was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1940 to Maronite Catholic parents Julián Slim Haddad and Linda Helu, both of Lebanese descent. Slim was married to Soumaya Domit from 1967 until her death in 1999. Slim has six children: Carlos, Marco Antonio, Patrick, Soumaya, Vanessa, and Johanna. Slim had been ranked by Forbes as the richest person in the world from 2010-2013.
